Airborne Non-Invasive Oil & Gas Exploration with M2® Radar

Advanced Hydrocarbon Detection Onshore and Offshore

Advanced Hydrocarbon Detection Onshore and Offshore

Oil and gas exploration requires technologies capable of reducing risk, cost, and analysis timelines — particularly in large-scale projects and geologically complex environments. Movin’Marine provides advanced airborne geophysical survey services for hydrocarbon exploration using the proprietary M2® Airborne Radar system. This passive electromagnetic technology is designed to identify subsurface anomalies associated with oil and gas-bearing geological structures, both onshore and offshore. Our methodology delivers early-stage geophysical intelligence prior to seismic acquisition or drilling operations, supporting more informed technical and investment decisions.

Oil & Gas Exploration Services

Airborne Geophysical Technology for Hydrocarbon Detection

The M2® Airborne Radar system enables the detection of subsurface electrical conductivity variations associated with potential oil and natural gas accumulations, as well as favorable geological structures.

Operating from helicopter or fixed-wing aircraft platforms, the system can efficiently survey extensive areas within a short timeframe, overcoming many of the logistical and temporal limitations associated with prolonged seismic campaigns or early-stage exploratory drilling.

This airborne geophysical approach is particularly effective for:

  • Identifying deep geological structures with hydrocarbon potential
  • Delineating areas associated with natural gas systems
  • Detecting structural traps, fault zones and subsurface discontinuities
  • Conducting preliminary surveys in offshore and onshore environments
  • Reducing uncertainty prior to seismic acquisition or drilling programs

By integrating airborne data into early-stage exploration workflows, operators can strengthen basin understanding and optimize subsequent technical investments.

Low-Impact Offshore and Onshore Exploration

One of the key advantages of the M2® Airborne Radar system is its non-invasive operational approach. Airborne surveys eliminate the need for direct ground or seabed intervention, significantly reducing environmental impact and facilitating permitting processes in environmentally sensitive or regulated areas.

This makes the system particularly suitable for offshore basins, protected coastal regions, and remote onshore environments where traditional exploration methods may face logistical or environmental constraints.

With effective analytical depth capabilities of up to approximately 5,000 meters under appropriate geological conditions, the system is well suited for early-stage exploration programs, regional screening studies, and preliminary assessment of energy potential.

All acquired geophysical data is digitally processed and delivered as structured 2D and 3D subsurface models, providing a clear visualization of detected anomalies and supporting technical interpretation prior to seismic acquisition or drilling activities.

Fast Results for Efficient Decision-Making

While conventional exploration workflows may require months — or even years — to deliver actionable conclusions, Movin’Marine provides structured technical reports within significantly reduced timeframes. This accelerated approach enables energy companies to optimize capital allocation and plan subsequent exploration phases with greater confidence and technical clarity.

Our airborne geophysical technology has been successfully deployed in real-world projects, including offshore oil exploration campaigns in the Mediterranean, supporting leading energy operators with early-stage subsurface intelligence.

We operate internationally, adapting each project to the specific geological framework, logistical conditions, and regulatory requirements of the country involved.
